Jonathan Appoints Retired Army General As New Chief Of Staff

COS 1As earlier reported by Information Nigeria citing sources that spoke to an online news agency, Sahara Reporters, President Goodluck Jonathan has appointed Brig.-Gen Jones Oladehinde Arogbofa (rtd) as his new Chief Of Staff.

Arogbofa, a retired Officer of the Signals Corps of the Nigerian Army, takes over from Chief Mike Oghiadomhe, who resigned last week in order to pursue his political ambition in Edo State.

The new Chief of Staff in the presidency, who hails from Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State, according to a statement by Mr. Jonathan’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati, besides having administrative capabilities and experience garnered from a distinguished career in the Nigerian Army, also brings to his new job an impressive array of academic qualifications.

His academic qualifications include a Diploma in Communications Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology, USA; a Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Sciences Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama and a Masters Degree in Military Arts and Science from the United States Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, all in the USA.

Arogbofa, who also holds several military honours and awards, is also a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).

The statement noted that his appointment is with immediate effect and he has since resumed at the Presidential Villa.
