Clik here to view. The peace talks between President Goodluck Jonathan and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors which started on Sunday night but did not end until early hours of Monday reportedly ended in a stalemate.
While Governor Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State told reporters that he attended the meeting in company of his Kano counterpart, Rabiu Kwankwaso to formally inform the President of their defection to the All Progressives Congress, Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom said no such issue was raised at the meeting.
Akpabio, who doubles as chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, however, said that Wamakko was free to leave the party but noted that thousands of the party members in Sokoto State will remain in the party.
President Jonathan had expressed similar views weekend when he said that followers of the defecting governors should not be cajoled into joining the APC.
