The governorship candidate of Accord Party in Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, has asked Governor Abiola Ajimobi to pay him N10 billion or risk court action.
Ladoja’s demand is coming on the heels of Gov. Ajimobi’s claim that Oyo State Government received N500 million from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), being proceeds of a plea bargain between the AP governorship candidate, who is an ex-governor of the state, and the anti-graft agency.
While denying the allegation, Ladoja attributed the claim to an attempt to smear his integrity ahead of the February elections.
Subsequently, Ladoja, on Wednesday in Ibadan, instructed his lawyer, Barrister Biodun Abdu-Raheem, to write the governor seeking N10 billion as damages, a retraction of the publication and apology within seven days.
The letter dated January 14, 2015, addressed to Governor Ajimobi, copy of which was made available to journalists in Ibadan read in part: “Our client demands of you to make available any document directly tending to show that he made such payments and for the purpose alleged, that is, plea bargaining. We reiterate that none of the documents published so far substantiates the fact that our client is directly involved in the allegation”.
Ladoja threatened to seek redress in court should Gov. Ajimobi fail to retract the said publication and/or meet the other demands.
