Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, is ready to rescue Nigeria from the problem of insecurity, infrastructural decay and other problems bedeviling the country.
Atiku, who is a presidential aspirant on the platform of the APC, made this known in Osogbo, the Osun State capital on Thursday when he visited the party secretariat in an apparent move to shore up support for his ambition from the delegates of the state.
The former vice president said he decided to offer himself for election so as to salvage the worsening situation in the country, adding that everything lawful must be done to pull Nigeria back from the brink of collapse and stabilize it.
Atiku said, “It is sad that all the sectors in the country are dangerously drifting and not working as expected. We need to act urgently to rescue the nation. I am compelled to offer my services to rescue Nigeria from precipice and contribute towards stabilizing it.
“What is it that is right in Nigeria at the moment? Is it education, security, aviation or health? The onus is on me as a statesman to offer my services for our country and salvage it.
“If we all agreed that things are not right, what is next to do is how to remedy the situation. APC is ready to offer leadership and direction to move Nigeria forward. We are ready to rescue Nigeria from collapse. This is achievable with the support of Nigerians”.
The Turakin Adamawa also urged Nigerians to shun religious sentiment and ethnicity while voting in 2015, stressing that the future of the country could no longer be entrusted in the care of incompetent leaders.
