Darius-IshakuThe immediate-past minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Darius Dickson Ishaku, has said that the violent clashes in his home state of Taraba would come to an end once he is elected governor of the state

Speaking during a send-off dinner in his honour by staff of the ministry, in Abuja yesterday, the governorship aspirant said the warring factions would be reunited when he assumes office as governor come 2015.

“Taraba will be turned around. I cannot say about the whole North-East, but one thing I can tell you is that in Taraba State, the war in my state will stop once I get there”, he said.

The out-going minister, who resigned his ministerial position to run for governorship of Taraba State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, urged all governorship aspirants in the state to exhibit high sense of maturity in the race.

“We politicians should provide a just and fair playing ground otherwise, democracy itself will be meaningless. When democracy is not played on a level field, then it is meaningless”, he said.

In his remarks, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Dr. Stephen Orise Oru, remarked that “Your endorsement by General T.Y. Danjuma was an indication that we will be having this kind of gathering again in Taraba State Government House”.
