Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Hon. Adamu Dala Dogo, has said that the recent vote of confidence, which members of the assembly unanimously passed on the State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam recently, was due to their strong belief that he is sincerely committed to serving the people of the state and improving their living conditions.

In an interview with journalists in Damaturu, the state capital yesterday, Dogo said there were rumours recently that some ‘political jobbers’ were being lured to use the legislature to disrupt the politics of the state, but added that they would not allow that to happen.

“Some even said that money was shared in Saudi Arabia during the Ramadan in order to cause friction. This is further from the truth. So, we had a special sitting on Tuesday in which we debunked the rumours as baseless and reaffirmed our support and endorsement for the governor”, he said.

The Speaker said further that: “Each of the 24 honourable members spoke for himself and his constituency. We all said the same thing. We were unanimous in expressing our confidence on the leadership of the governor and endorsed him as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2015 elections”.

Dogo warned people in the opposition to look elsewhere as “Yobe is beyond their machinations which will always fail by the grace of God”, adding that Gaidam has provided “dividends of democracy” to his people despite the prevailing security challenges.
