Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, has said it is his turn to take over the mantle of leadership in Imo State, after lending his support to previous governors from Okigwe and Orlu parts of the state.
He stated this weekend, during his consultation visit to Isu Njaba local government area of the state, where he was received by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faithful and residents of the area.
“I gave Udenwa and Ohakim, who are from Orlu and Okigwe my support, now I have come for pay back. I have come to seek your support to make me your candidate for PDP in 2015. I have paid my dues by supporting the party financially”, Ihedioha stated.
He noted that it would not be easy unseating the incumbent governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, hence it would require somebody like him, who has performed creditably well and who has an equal political strength, to make it happen.
The deputy speaker reminded the people of his achievements in his constituency, which he attributed to his bargaining power, adding that the first road project he attracted from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) when he assumed office as the deputy speaker was worth N5.2 billion.
