All Progressive Congress (APC) national women leader, Barrister Sharon Ikeazor, has urged the first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, to visit the women whose children were abducted in Chibok, Borno State.

Ikeazor, who was among the national leadership of the party that addressed a world press conference in Lagos weekend, said it is when the first lady visits Chibok and other parts of the North-East ravaged by Boko Haram that she may appreciate the seriousness of what the depressed mothers and women are currently passing through.

She also called for involvement of women in solving the current insurgency problem in the country, recalling that Angola and Liberia were embroiled in crises, women were involved.

“I would like to call the mother of the nation, Mrs Patient Jonathan to please visit in fact, the whole women in the North. We see these women, we talk with them and we feel their pulse. We thought by now she should have done that but notwithstanding, it is still not too late”, she said.

The APC women leader advised government to put in place programmes to help women develop in the region, adding that the N2 billion recovery fund for the North East is grossly inadequate.

“A real and massive effort is needed. Clearly, more financial resources are needed. Economic revival goes beyond providing substantial funds, it has to be guided by clear objectives, roles of public and private sectors and civil society groups, and must include social (education, health, religion, culture and traditional institutions), environmental, and political aspects, in addition to economic issues”, she said.
