Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Board of Trustees, on Monday expressed optimism that all aggrieved members of the party would be appeased before the August 9 governorship election.
Oyedokun told the News Agency of Nigeria in Osogbo that resolving the disagreements within the party was in the overall interest of the state.
NAN reports that Oyedokun was on Thursday named as the Chairman of a 27-man reconciliation committee of the PDP in Osun.
“We know we are dealing with individuals who in their own rights are peace makers.
“Each and every one of the aspirants that signified to fly the flag of the party in August is eminently qualified to occupy the seat of the governor.
“The inclusion of all the aspirants before the party’s primary is strategic as they will play significant roles in talking to their followers”, he said.
He said the reconciliation committee would achieve its mandate because of the wish of all stakeholders to ensure the party’s success in the election.
“All those we will be talking to are individuals, and they will naturally not be interested in destroying the party platform.
“It is our collective responsibility to see to the fact that we bring all our brothers and sisters back into the fold well before the election.
“The PDP in Osun has a history of settling its disputes maturely without external influence and this episode shall also be resolved”, he said.
Oyedokun said that every party member should see the forthcoming governorship election as a joint project. (NAN)
