JONAH-JANGFactional Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) and Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, has expressed confidence that President Goodluck Jonathan would return to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in 2015.

Jang also assured the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that he would do everything within his capacity to ensure the party wins in Plateau at the 2015 general elections.

Jang who led a delegation of Plateau State PDP members to the national secretariat of the party in Abuja on Monday to discuss issues of development with its national chairman, Adamu Mu’azu, and members of the National Working Committee (NWC), reaffirmed his confidence in the Jonathan administration and commended Mu’azu for “turning things around” for the party’s greatness.

“By the grace of the Almighty God, our number one citizen, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, will return as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2015. He will never fail, we are not going to joke, we will not allow our records to go down; we must maintain the records and do better”, Jang said.

The governor recalled that in the 2011 general elections, which produced Jonathan as president, “Plateau State delivered the highest number of votes in the entire northern part of the country”, adding that the 2015 polls would record more number of votes from the state.

He said the state leadership and members of the party have been working in one accord since the last general elections and advised all the PDP local government chairmen in the state to embark on grassroots mobilization for the party in order to deliver 100 percent votes to it in 2015.

Jang, however, faulted a situation where some members of the party cross-carpet to the opposition after being denied the ticket to run on PDP’s platform, stressing that “we want PDP to be a home of like-minds and not a market place where people walk in and out at will”.

He also stressed that the PDP in Plateau State has been receiving new members into its fold contrary to claims in some quarters that the party is weak in the state. He pledged to work in synergy with the NWC of the party and its chairman to ensure that the party “remains the home for all”.

In his remarks, PDP national chairman, Mu’azu, said he would do everything possible to ensure that the party remains vibrant and strong to ensure a peaceful and united Nigeria.
