Clik here to view.Against the media speculation that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed General Muhammadu Buhari and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as its presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2015 general elections, a chieftain of the party and former Minister of Steel Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, has said nobody has been endorsed by the party as its presidential flag bearer.
Ogbeh, who spoke with Daily Trust in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, said those flying the kite of a Buhari/Tinubu candidacy were out to cause disaffection in the party.
“We have not discussed it. But I am open to every religion. I want to tell you that we have not discussed that issue. I am a Christian. It is purely a speculation. It may be somebody’s idea. No serious decision on this matter has been reached on this matter without a serious debate to weigh the merit and demerits of this particular matter. So there is no reason for anybody to be worried or pull out from the party. When we take a decision on such matter Nigerians would realise the sensibility of our reasons”, he said.
On the fate of 37 members of the House of Representatives that defected to APC from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, but which a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja declared unconstitutional, the former PDP National Chairman said: “the judge did not give any reason for that verdict. He only gave advice. We have every reason to believe the advice was partisan to favour PDP. The judge has been accused of doing favour to PDP. Other party members who have left their party to join PDP what do you say about them? These are some of the court verdict that brings the judiciary to disrepute. But there are some judges that are open minded. No arm of government has the right to interfere in the internal workings of any other arm”.
He, however, expressed the hope that the lower chamber would intervene in the matter.
