Clik here to view.The violent attacks, which greeted the commencement of the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise in Osun State, has spread to Ila Orangun on Saturday.
Pockets of violence were reported in some areas in Ile Ife, Ilesa, Iwo and some other towns on Wednesday and Thursday.
While it was learnt that at least six persons were attacked by thugs in Ila Orangun yesterday even as one of the victims, who suffered a deep cut to his head, was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
It was not clear on whose camp side the attackers were but the two leading parties in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the ruling All Progressives Congress have continued to engage in war of words over the incidents.
The Chairman of the PDP in Ila Orangun, Mr. Ganiyu Afolabi, told reporters that members of his party had been under siege since the voter registration started.
He alleged that thugs hired by the APC had continued to terrorise his party members with the aim of preventing supporters of the party and their relatives from registering as voters.
The Chairman of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA, Dr. Jide Adeniji, who is an indigene of Ila Orangun, told reporters that he had reported the attacks to the commissioner of police in the state.
However, the ruling APC accused the PDP of using policemen to intimidate its members and disrupting the exercise.
