The game of hide-and-seek between Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dameshi Barau Luka and the All Progressives Congress, APC, came to an end yesterday as Luka officially tendered his letter of withdrawal from the APC to the party state secretariat in Lafia, the state capital.
Confirming the development, the director of press to the deputy governor, Danjuma Joseph, said his boss submitted the letter yesterday at about 11am to the state party office and is slated to brief the press on his next line of action today.
He said, “My principal has officially presented his letter of resignation to the APC and he will brief the press tomorrow”.
The deputy governor had been linked with a potential move to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following his suspension from the APC for criticizing the position of the national secretariat of APC for directing its members in the National Assembly to frustrate all executive bills until the crisis in Rivers State is resolved.
Meanwhile, the state interim management committee chairman of the APC, Arch. Stanley Buba, acknowledged receipt of the letter and said the party was accepting the development in good faith even as he wished him well in his future endeavours.
He said, “The deputy governor has been on suspension before now. I don’t know whether he quit the party because of the suspension, but all the same we wish him well in his future endevours”.
