The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, on Wednesday took a look at his new job and came to the conclusion that it was not an easy task.
He, therefore, called for prayers and divine intervention to enable him to succeed in the task of leading the ruling party, which has been bedeviled by crisis in recent times.
Mu’azu spoke in Abuja when members of the party from Kebbi State, led by the governor, Alhaji Usman Dakingari, paid him a solidarity visit at the Wadata Plaza national headquarters of the party.
He said, “Put me in your prayers, the job is not easy, pray to God so that with my colleagues, God will make it easy for us”.
Prior to his assumption as chairman of PDP, five governors had defected from the party to the All Progressives Congress. Besides, 37 members of the party in the House of Representatives also defected to the APC with about a dozen in the Senate also cross-carpeting to the opposition party.
Though Mu’azu, a two-term governor of Bauchi State has not been able to convince any of the governors and the lawmakers to return to the ruling party, he has achieved some level of success in persuading others to return even as under his leadership, the PDP has received into its fold chieftains of APC in the mould of Attahiru Bafarawa and Ibrahim Shekarau among other heavy weights.
Speaking further, Mu’azu said he was happy that his job could be made easier with what he said was happening in some states like Kebbi, adding that with the calibre of dignitaries on the delegation that visited him, PDP remained the party to beat.
