In what might be considered support for suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the House of Representatives Committee on Finance yesterday commended the apex bank for its timely remittance to the Federation Account.
This is contained in a statement by the CBN Deputy Director of Communication, Mr Isaac Okoroafor, in Abuja.
It said the commendation was given during the 2014 budget defence at the National Assembly.
The committee chairman, Dr. Abdulmumin Jubril was quoted in the statement as saying “The apex bank, over the years has been consistent in its remittance to the federation account as and when due”.
The committee, according to the statement, said it would continue to commend the CBN for the fiscal discipline and for the good work it had been doing for the country.
The apex bank, it added, had not only been timely in its rendition, but also ensured that the amount it remitted was on the increase in the last four years.
The Deputy Governor, Corporate Services, Alhaji Suleiman Barau, said that the bank had been able to increase its remittances from about N64 billion in 2011 to over N80 billion in 2012.
